Using kids profiles

A kid profile is a child-safe space inside your account that shows only content suitable for children. It's a simple way to let younger viewers browse and watch on their own, without coming across content meant for grown-ups.

This article explains how kid profiles work and how to set one up. For everything about regular profiles, PINs, and account settings, see "Using viewer profiles."

Note: Kid profiles are only available if your streaming service has turned them on. If you don't see the kid profile option, your service doesn't offer it.

What is a kid profile?

Like any profile, a kid profile has its own Continue Watching, My List, and recommendations. The difference is what it shows: a kid profile displays only content marked suitable for children, and hides everything meant for grown-ups — including in search.

Kid profiles also keep things simple and safe for younger viewers: account settings and payment options are hidden, and there's no PIN to enter.

How to create a kid profile

  • On the Who's watching? screen, select Add profile — or select Manage profiles to turn an existing profile into a kid profile.
  • Enter a name (up to 15 characters) and pick an avatar.
  • Turn on Is this a kid profile?
  • Select Save. The profile now shows only child-friendly content.

Note: The main profile can't be made into a kid profile. Create a separate profile for your child instead.

What your child can and can't see

  • A kid profile shows only the titles your streaming service has marked suitable for children.
  • Content meant for grown-ups is hidden everywhere — in browsing and in search results.
  • Account settings, payment, and profile management are not available from a kid profile.

Note: Exactly which titles appear is decided by the streaming service you're subscribed to. If something you expected is missing from the kid profile, that content hasn't been marked suitable for children.

Why kid profiles don't use a PIN

Kid profiles don't have a PIN, so children can get into their own space easily. The protection comes from the content itself — a kid profile simply can't reach grown-up content. If you'd like to keep your own profile private, you can add a PIN to your profile (see "Using viewer profiles").

Switching a kid profile back to a regular profile

Turning a kid profile back into a regular profile requires email verification, so a child can't remove their own restrictions.

  • From Manage profiles, open the kid profile and turn off Is this a kid profile?
  • We'll email a verification code to your account email address. Enter the code to confirm it's you.
  • Save. The profile now has access to the full library again.

Managing or deleting a kid profile

From Manage profiles, you can rename a kid profile, change its avatar, or delete it. A kid profile can be deleted like any other profile — only the main profile can't be removed.
